The mesic acidic forest floor is the perfect template for profuse and abundant wildflowers including blue-eyed mary, wood poppy, recurved trillium, Virginia spiderwort and jack-in pulpit to name a few. The forested areas range from dry upland cliff and meadow sections to lowland riverfront slopes and provide, white oak, black walnut, sassafras, tulip tree, sugar maple, black gum, shagbark hickory, beech, black oak and northern red oak trees to name just a sampling of the forest population.
